Reddit ads for B2B: a field guide
On Reddit, your ad can get downvoted in public. It can also reach a platform that averaged 130.3 million daily active uniques in Q2 2026, according to Reddit's own earnings release.
> Reddit ads work for B2B when you target the communities and conversations where practitioners research tools, write like a peer instead of a brand, and measure with the Pixel plus the Conversions API against qualified pipeline. Reddit can't target job titles like LinkedIn, so treat it as a contextual channel, not an account-based one.
Most B2B teams either ignore Reddit or paste one LinkedIn ad into it, watch it flop and call the channel dead. Both miss the point. Reddit is where engineers, admins, analysts and operators ask each other which tool is actually good. That's a research moment, and you can buy into it.
You just have to do it on the community's terms. Think of it like entering someone else's grid: the rules were written before you arrived, and the residents notice outsiders fast.

Why would a B2B company advertise on Reddit?
Because buyers already use it to vet vendors. Search "best [category] tool reddit" and you'll see the habit: people append "reddit" to queries because they want answers from someone who isn't selling.
For B2B, the strongest fits are audiences that self-organize into professional communities: developers, IT and security admins, data teams, marketers, finance and ops practitioners, and founders. If your buyer has a subreddit where they complain about their current tool, you have a targeting strategy.
The weakest fits are executive-only offers and products with no practitioner user. Reddit is a ground-floor channel. The person who runs the tool every day is there. The person who signs the contract is less predictable.
LinkedIn tells you who someone is. Reddit tells you what they're stuck on. For a lot of B2B products, the second one is the better signal.
How do you target B2B buyers on Reddit?
Think of Reddit targeting as four layers. For B2B, the order you stack them matters more than which ones you pick.
| Layer | What it does | B2B use |
|---|---|---|
| Community targeting | Reaches people active in specific subreddits | Your core layer. Pick communities where your buyer's job is the topic |
| Keyword targeting | Places ads in feed and conversation contexts related to your keywords | Catch tool and problem discussions outside your core communities |
| Interest targeting | Broad behavioral categories | Usually too broad for B2B on its own; layer, don't lead |
| Custom audiences | Customer lists, Pixel or Conversions API retargeting, lookalikes | Retarget site visitors and exclude existing customers |
Keyword targeting got a meaningful upgrade in October 2024, when Reddit extended it beyond conversations to feed ads and added multi-placement optimization, AI keyword suggestions and Dynamic Audience Expansion, according to Social Media Today.
How to set it up for B2B:
- Group communities by theme. Keep one tight cluster of related subreddits per ad group so you can see which communities convert.
- Read the community before you buy it. Check the rules, the top posts and how people talk about vendors. Some communities are openly hostile to marketing.
- Add keyword ad groups for problem language, not just your category name. "Alert fatigue" beats "observability platform."
- Exclude customers with an uploaded list so you're not paying to pitch people who already pay you.
- Hold expansion features back until you have a baseline. Automated expansion optimizes for engagement, and engagement on Reddit isn't the same as fit.
Reddit's Max campaigns automate bidding, targeting and creative selection. Launch details as reported by PPC Land: beta from January 5, 2026, traffic and conversion objectives only, and Reddit-reported split tests showing 17% lower cost per action and 27% more conversions versus advertisers' business-as-usual campaigns. That's Reddit's own test, relayed by trade press, with no published methodology and nothing B2B-specific. Check whether it's out of beta in your account, then test it against a manual community campaign before you hand over the keys.

Feed vs. conversation placement
Ads run in two places: the feed, where people scroll, and the conversation placement, on the comment pages under posts. In March 2025, Reddit opened ad slots deeper in comment sections to all advertisers, with DoubleVerify and IAS measurement for that inventory, as reported by Social Media Today. Conversation placement is where the research happens: someone reading a thread titled "what are you using for X" is mid-evaluation.
Ad types
- Image and text posts. The workhorse. On Reddit, a post with a clear, useful headline often does more than a polished graphic.
- Video and carousel. Useful for short product walkthroughs or showing several use cases.
- Lead Generation Ads. Launched in public beta in July 2024, with an on-platform form, a prefilled email field and CRM delivery through Zapier, per Search Engine Land. Good for gated content. Expect to qualify harder than on your own forms.
- Conversation Summary Add-ons. Shown beneath an ad, these surface real user posts about the brand. Reddit reported 19% higher CTR in early testing when it announced them as an alpha in June 2025, per Search Engine Land. Alpha in 2025 means check availability before you plan around it.
What creative tone works on Reddit?
Write like the useful regular in the thread who happens to work at a vendor. Not like the vendor.
- Lead with the problem in their words. Use the phrases people actually use in threads. If they say "our on-call rotation is a nightmare," don't say "optimize incident response workflows."
- Be specific and plain. Numbers, limits, what it costs, what it doesn't do. Reddit rewards candor and punishes polish.
- Offer something useful. A free tool, a template, a benchmark, an honest comparison. "Book a demo" from a cold Reddit click is a big ask.
- Expect replies. If comments are open, people will ask questions and point out flaws. Have someone ready to answer like a human, quickly.
- Drop the corporate visuals. Stock photos of people pointing at laptops read as ads instantly. Screenshots and simple graphics tend to blend in better.
Then match the page. A Redditor who clicked "how we cut alert noise in half" and lands on a generic homepage will bounce, and they'll say so. Send each ad to a page that continues the exact thread the ad started. Our message match guide covers how.
Redditors can smell a marketing department through the screen. Write like the engineer who'd answer the thread, not the brand that sponsored it.
How do you set up the Reddit Conversions API?
The Reddit Pixel fires in the browser, so ad blockers and privacy settings take a bite out of it. The Conversions API sends events from your server straight to Reddit, which holds up better. Run both.
- Create the Pixel and an access token in Reddit's Events Manager.
- Send standard events such as Lead, SignUp and PageVisit, with at least one attribution signal: the Reddit click ID, hashed email, IP address or user agent.
- Pass the click ID. Make sure the Reddit click ID survives your URLs and forms so server events can be matched to clicks.
- Deduplicate. When the Pixel and the Conversions API both send an event, Reddit matches duplicates on the conversion ID and event name, so send the same ID from both.
- Send the events that matter. For B2B, a server event when a lead becomes qualified is worth more than ten page views. Optimize toward it once volume allows.
The same principles apply on Meta; our Meta Conversions API guide for B2B goes deeper on sending CRM stages back to the platform.
// 07 · high scoreHow should B2B teams measure Reddit ads?
- Separate clicks from influence. Reddit is a research channel. Many buyers see the ad, read the thread and convert later through search or direct. Last-click reports will undercount it.
- Ask. A "how did you hear about us" field with Reddit as an option catches what pixels miss.
- Watch branded search. If branded search rises in the weeks you run Reddit, that's a signal, not proof.
- Run a holdout. Pause Reddit in some regions or for a defined period and compare pipeline. See our incrementality testing guide.
- Judge on qualified pipeline, not CTR or CPC. Cheap clicks from students and hobbyists are still the wrong clicks.
Where this breaks
- Public feedback. A bad ad can draw critical comments that sit under your brand name. That's a risk and, handled well, a chance to show you're straight with people.
- No professional targeting. You can't target by title, seniority or company. Community and keyword proxies will always include non-buyers.
- Scale ceilings. Niche B2B communities are small. Expect a frequency problem before a budget problem.
- Lead quality. Prefilled lead forms are easy to submit, which is great for volume and bad for intent. Qualify downstream.
- Automation optimizes the wrong thing. Expansion and automated campaigns chase the events you send. Send clicks, get clicks.
Should B2B teams test Reddit ads?
Yes, if your buyers are practitioners who gather in identifiable communities, you can send server-side conversion events, and you have someone who can answer comments. Start with two or three community clusters, one keyword ad group built on problem language, a useful offer and a page that matches each ad. Run it for six to eight weeks and compare cost per qualified opportunity with your other social channels.

Reddit won't replace LinkedIn. It'll show you what your buyers say when no vendor is in the room. That's worth the test budget alone.

FAQ
Do Reddit ads work for B2B?
They can, especially for technical and practitioner audiences that research tools in specific communities. Reddit cannot target by job title or company the way LinkedIn can, so it works best as a contextual and community channel, measured against qualified pipeline.
How do you target B2B buyers on Reddit?
Combine community targeting for the subreddits your buyers use, keyword targeting for the topics they discuss, and custom audiences from your pixel, Conversions API and customer lists. Keep expansion features off until you have a baseline.
What is the Reddit conversation placement?
It is ad inventory on conversation pages, the comment threads under Reddit posts, alongside the main feed. In March 2025, Reddit opened ad slots deeper in comment sections to all advertisers, according to Social Media Today.
Does Reddit have lead gen ads?
Yes. Reddit launched Lead Generation Ads in public beta in July 2024, according to Search Engine Land. They collect leads in a form on Reddit, prefill the email field and can send leads to a CRM through Zapier.
Do you need the Reddit Conversions API?
It is strongly recommended. The Conversions API sends events server-side, which survives ad blockers and browser restrictions. Run it alongside the Reddit Pixel and send a shared conversion ID so Reddit can deduplicate events.
